Two people were killed and 35 others were injured in a mass shooting yesterday (Sunday) during a public celebration in Vienna, Georgia, as authorities continue their investigations to uncover the circumstances of the incident and identify those responsible.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) announced that the incident occurred during a gathering in a neighborhood on “Pine” Street, while deputies from the county sheriff’s office were patrolling the area.
Upon hearing the gunfire, security personnel moved to the scene, where they found several people with gunshot wounds, as well as two deceased individuals in another part of the street. The injured were transported to several hospitals in the area for treatment.
More than 50 shots
County Sheriff Craig Peavy stated that more than 1,000 people were present at the event when the shooting broke out, noting that over 50 bullets were fired in two close locations.
He added that the shooting continued even after security personnel arrived, and the large number of people present made it difficult to immediately determine the source of the gunfire.
The ages of the injured ranged from 14 to 51 years, with their conditions varying from critical to stable. Authorities indicated that the majority of the injured were shot, while others were hurt during the chaos that followed the incident.
Identification of the deceased

Their bodies are set to undergo autopsies at the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s medical examiner’s office.
Investigations ongoing
Authorities have not yet announced the arrest of any suspects, nor have they identified the motive behind the shooting or the number of individuals who fired shots, while investigators continue to interview witnesses and gather evidence to identify those responsible.
Authorities confirmed that there is no information indicating an ongoing threat to the community, while the Georgia Bureau of Investigation continues to collaborate with local law enforcement in the investigation of the incident.
