إنفاذًا لتوجيهات خادم الحرمين الشريفين الملك سلمان بن عبدالعزيز، وولي العهد رئيس مجلس الوزراء الأمير محمد بن سلمان، بدأ الفريق الطبي والجراحي التابع للبرنامج السعودي للتوائم الملتصقة، صباح اليوم (الخميس)، عملية فصل التوأم الملتصق المغربي «سجى وضحى»، وعمرهما (13) شهرًا، وذلك في مستشفى الملك عبدالله التخصصي للأطفال بمدينة الملك عبدالعزيز الطبية بوزارة الحرس الوطني في الرياض.
وأوضح المشرف العام على مركز الملك سلمان للإغاثة والأعمال الإنسانية، رئيس الفريق الطبي والجراحي التابع للبرنامج، الدكتور عبدالله بن عبدالعزيز الربيعة، أن التوأم الملتصق المغربي «سجى وضحى» قدمتا إلى المملكة في 24 أبريل 2026م، وبعد دخول التوأم إلى مستشفى الملك عبدالله التخصصي للأطفال، قام الفريق الطبي بإجراء فحوصات دقيقة ومتعددة لهما، وعقد عدة اجتماعات، توصل من خلالها إلى أن التوأم تلتصقان في منطقتي الصدر والبطن، وتشتركان في أغشية القلب والكبد والأمعاء.
وبيّن أن الفحوصات كشفت عن وجود مشكلة في الحنجرة لدى إحدى التوأمين، مما استدعى إجراء منظار وعلاج العيب الخلقي عن طريق المنظار.
وأشار إلى أنه من المقرر أن تُجرى العملية على (6) مراحل، وتستغرق (10) ساعات، ويشارك فيها 23 من الاستشاريين والأخصائيين والكوادر التمريضية والفنية من تخصصات التخدير وجراحة الأطفال وجراحة التجميل وبقية التخصصات المساندة، مشيرًا إلى أن هذه العملية تُعد من العمليات الدقيقة، ونسبة نجاحها -بمشيئة الله- تزيد على 70%.
ولفت النظر إلى أن هذه العملية تُعد الرابعة لتوائم ملتصقة من المغرب، وهي رقم (73) ضمن البرنامج السعودي للتوائم الملتصقة، الذي استطاع منذ عام 1990م أن يعتني بـ(159) توأمًا من (28) دولة في (5) قارات.
ورفع الدكتور الربيعة، باسمه ونيابة عن زملائه أعضاء الفريق الطبي، الشكر والتقدير والامتنان لخادم الحرمين الشريفين وولي عهده الأمين على ما يحظى به البرنامج من دعم واهتمام ومتابعة مستمرة، سائلًا المولى عز وجل أن تتكلل العملية بالنجاح، وأن يمنّ على التوأم المغربي بالصحة والعافية.
In accordance with the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and the Crown Prince, Prime Minister Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the medical and surgical team of the Saudi program for conjoined twins began the separation operation for the Moroccan conjoined twins “Saja and Duha,” aged (13) months, this morning (Thursday) at King Abdullah Specialized Children’s Hospital in King Abdulaziz Medical City of the Ministry of National Guard in Riyadh.
The General Supervisor of the King Salman Relief and Humanitarian Aid Center, and head of the medical and surgical team of the program, Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Rabeeah, explained that the Moroccan conjoined twins “Saja and Duha” arrived in the Kingdom on April 24, 2026. After the twins were admitted to King Abdullah Specialized Children’s Hospital, the medical team conducted multiple and precise examinations and held several meetings, concluding that the twins are conjoined at the chest and abdomen, sharing membranes of the heart, liver, and intestines.
He indicated that the examinations revealed a problem in the larynx of one of the twins, necessitating an endoscopy and treatment of the congenital defect through the endoscope.
He noted that the operation is scheduled to be carried out in (6) stages, lasting (10) hours, and involves 23 consultants, specialists, and nursing and technical staff from the fields of anesthesia, pediatric surgery, plastic surgery, and other supporting specialties, emphasizing that this operation is considered delicate, with a success rate – God willing – exceeding 70%.
He pointed out that this operation is the fourth for conjoined twins from Morocco, and it is number (73) within the Saudi program for conjoined twins, which has been able since 1990 to care for (159) twins from (28) countries across (5) continents.
Dr. Al-Rabeeah expressed, on his behalf and on behalf of his colleagues in the medical team, gratitude and appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and his trustworthy Crown Prince for the support, interest, and continuous follow-up that the program receives, asking Almighty God to crown the operation with success and to grant the Moroccan twins health and wellness.
