The general nursing specialty tops the list of the most frequently offered job opportunities by the Holding Health through its twenty health clusters, as the need included 18 health clusters, while the Al-Ahsa and Eastern clusters were excluded from the demand for this specialty, among the 4,291 job opportunities announced by the Holding for Saudi health practitioners.
A survey by “Okaz” of the vacancies in the health clusters showed repeated requests for specialties in emergency medicine, intensive care, anesthesia, pediatrics, surgery, internal medicine, and obstetrics and gynecology, with job titles including consultant, first deputy physician, deputy physician, and resident physician, in addition to non-physician specialists and technicians. The needs varied between precise medical specialties and supporting health services.
The announced jobs did not specify the number of vacancies for each specialty or the total jobs allocated to each health cluster, as they were limited to presenting the required specialties and job titles, without indicating the numerical distribution of job opportunities, which prevents determining the share of nursing from the total jobs offered.
Nursing’s leading position among the repeated specialties comes at a time when data on the health workforce in the Kingdom revealed that the number of registered practitioners in the professions of nursing and midwifery exceeded 290,000 practitioners by 2026, including about 110,000 Saudi men and women, reflecting the expanding presence of national competencies in two essential professions within the health system.
A survey conducted by “Okaz” in the month of Safar last year 1448 AH, based on data from the National Center for Health Workforce Planning affiliated with the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties, showed an increase in the percentage of Saudis in the professions of nursing and midwifery from 30% in 2018 to 38% in 2026, with an increase of eight percentage points.
“Okaz” published yesterday details of the Holding Health’s announcement of 4,291 job opportunities for Saudi health practitioners through 20 health clusters in various regions of the Kingdom, with the application available electronically via the employment portals of each cluster.
