البديوي يعلن تأجيل الاجتماع الخليجي الأوروبي – أخبار السعودية
أعلن الأمين العام لمجلس التعاون لدول الخليج العربية، جاسم محمد البديوي، اليوم (الخميس)، تأجيل القمة الخليجية الأوروبية التي كان مقرراً عقدها في الرياض (الثلاثاء) 24 أكتوبر الجاري، إلى موعد جديد يُتفق عليه لاحقاً، على خلفية استمرار محاولات الحوثيين استهداف السعودية.
وأفادت الأمانة العامة لمجلس التعاون، في بيان، بأن قرار إعادة الجدولة جاء نتيجة «استمرار ميليشيا الحوثي الإرهابية في محاولاتها لاستهداف المملكة العربية السعودية وأعيانها المدنية، بما يهدد أمن وسلامة المدنيين»، إضافة إلى تمديد تعليق العمليات التشغيلية في مطار الملك خالد الدولي، وحرصاً على سلامة الوفود المشاركة.
وأوضحت أن الموعد الجديد للقمة سيُحدد بالتوافق بين الجانبين الخليجي والأوروبي، مؤكدة استمرار العمل على تهيئة الظروف الملائمة لانعقادها.
وشدد البديوي على أهمية عقد القمة بما يدعم الأهداف طويلة المدى للجانبين، ويعزز مسارات التعاون بين دول مجلس التعاون والاتحاد الأوروبي في مختلف المجالات، بما يسهم في تحقيق النمو والازدهار لشعوبهما.
The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Jassim Mohammed Al-Budaiwi, announced today (Thursday) the postponement of the Gulf-European summit that was scheduled to be held in Riyadh on (Tuesday) October 24, to a new date to be agreed upon later, due to the ongoing attempts by the Houthis to target Saudi Arabia.
The General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council stated in a statement that the decision to reschedule was a result of “the continued attempts by the Houthi terrorist militia to target the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its civilian entities, which threatens the safety and security of civilians,” in addition to the extension of the suspension of operational activities at King Khalid International Airport, and in order to ensure the safety of the participating delegations.
It clarified that the new date for the summit will be determined by mutual agreement between the Gulf and European sides, affirming the continued efforts to create suitable conditions for its convening.
Al-Budaiwi emphasized the importance of holding the summit in a way that supports the long-term goals of both sides and enhances cooperation pathways between the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and the European Union in various fields, contributing to achieving growth and prosperity for their peoples.
