The Egyptian Foreign Minister, Badr Abdel Atty, discussed with the Saudi Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, during a phone call, the bilateral relations and developments in the regional situation, with an Egyptian emphasis on supporting the security and stability of the Kingdom, and coordinating on the security of the Red Sea and Sudan.

The call took place on (Monday) October 5, as part of the ongoing communication and coordination between Cairo and Riyadh, addressing ways to enhance the fraternal and strategic relations between the two countries, and developing mechanisms for bilateral cooperation in various fields, in addition to consulting on a number of regional files of mutual interest.

During the call, the two ministers confirmed the depth of the relations that bind the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Egypt, and the importance of continuing coordination and consultation between the two countries in light of the rapid developments in the region, which supports the security and stability of Arab countries and protects their interests.

Discussions between the ministers were dominated by developments related to Iran, the security of the Red Sea region, and the situation in Sudan, where Abdel Atty reiterated Egypt’s condemnation of all attacks against the Kingdom, affirming Cairo’s full support for Saudi Arabia’s security and stability.

The two sides also agreed on the importance of maintaining the security and freedom of maritime navigation in the Red Sea and Bab el-Mandeb, considering them vital routes for international trade and regional security, amid the escalating tensions that the region has witnessed in recent years.

The security of the Red Sea and Bab el-Mandeb represents a strategic file for Egypt and Saudi Arabia, given its connection to the security of navigation, trade, and global supply chains, as well as the impact of any disruption in the region on the movement of ships transiting the Suez Canal and the ports located on the Red Sea.

The Egyptian-Saudi discussions come amid the ongoing multiple regional crises, including tensions related to Iran and the security of navigation in the Red Sea, along with the war in Sudan, making coordination between Cairo and Riyadh one of the main channels for Arab consultation on issues of regional security and stability.
