انزلقت أثناء شراء الموز.. وتطالب بتعويض 33 مليون دولار – أخبار السعودية
تحولت جولة تسوق عادية لشراء بعض حبات الموز إلى قضية قانونية ضخمة، بعدما طالبت سيدة أمريكية سلسلة متاجر شهيرة بتعويض يتجاوز 33 مليون دولار إثر حادثة سقوط داخل أحد فروعها.
وبدأت القصة عندما تعرضت ماريا توريس، البالغة من العمر 71 عامًا، للانزلاق والسقوط بسبب تجمُّع مياه ناتج عن تسرُّب في سقف أحد المتاجر بمدينة بورتلاند في ولاية أوريجون الأمريكية.
ووثقت كاميرات المراقبة لحظة سقوطها وارتطام رأسها بالأرض، بينما استمر تساقط المياه فوقها قبل أن يهرع العاملون والزوار لمساعدتها، في مشهد أثار اهتمامًا واسعًا بعد تداوله.
ونُقلت السيدة إلى المستشفى حيث مكثت ثلاثة أيام، وأظهرت الفحوص إصابتها بارتجاج في الدماغ، فيما أكدت أنها واصلت المعاناة من أعراض صحية شملت الصداع وطنين الأذن وصعوبات في الحركة، لدرجة احتياجها إلى كرسي متحرك في بعض الأحيان.
على إثر ذلك، رفعت دعوى قضائية للمطالبة بتعويضات مالية كبيرة، معتبرة أن إدارة المتجر كانت على علم بمشكلة التسرب منذ سنوات طويلة. وفي نهاية المطاف، توصل الطرفان إلى تسوية لم يُكشف عن قيمتها المالية.

The story began when 71-year-old Maria Torres slipped and fell due to a pool of water caused by a leak in the ceiling of one of the stores in Portland, Oregon.
Surveillance cameras captured the moment she fell and hit her head on the ground, while water continued to pour down on her before employees and customers rushed to help, in a scene that garnered widespread attention after being circulated.
The woman was taken to the hospital where she stayed for three days, and tests showed she had suffered a concussion, while she confirmed that she continued to experience health symptoms including headaches, tinnitus, and difficulties in movement, to the extent that she occasionally needed a wheelchair.
As a result, she filed a lawsuit seeking substantial financial compensation, claiming that the store management had been aware of the leak problem for many years. Ultimately, both parties reached a settlement, the financial value of which was not disclosed.
