Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman affirmed that the Kingdom does not fear challenges, and that Saudis possess the determination and strong belief in their ability to shape their future, emphasizing that Saudi Arabia will continue its investments in the energy sector, fulfill its commitments, and achieve the targets of Vision 2030, regardless of the challenges and global circumstances.

During his speech at the opening of the 25th World Petroleum Conference in Riyadh, the Energy Minister said: “The word fear does not exist in the Saudi dictionary,” adding: “As Saudis, we do not fear, we are determined, and we will prove this to the whole world; we will overcome everything we face,” stressing that the Kingdom will not miss any opportunity to uphold its commitments, vision, and the future of its sons and daughters.

He explained that Saudi Arabia has managed to achieve a significant transformation in a short period, and that its responsibility towards future generations compels it to continue working and facing challenges, adding: “We are the ones who determine our future, and we will not let it slip from our hands.”

Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman pointed out that Riyadh has become the capital of energy security, and the presence of participants at the conference confirms this status, indicating that the threats to energy infrastructure and global supply chains highlight the importance of preparedness and long-term investments.

He noted that the Kingdom has invested for decades in its infrastructure without knowing the nature of the risks it may face in the future, emphasizing that the East-West oil pipeline represents a model for the strategic importance of these investments by providing an alternative route for supplies to reach markets when maritime transport is exposed to risks.

He stated that Aramco’s ability to handle challenges and restart damaged facilities reflects years of planning, maintenance, and accumulated experience, stressing that resilience does not rely solely on infrastructure but also includes human competencies, local industries, and supply chains.

He said that pipelines, power plants, and facilities do not return to operation on their own, but through the efforts of human competencies, explaining that the Kingdom’s strategic strength is not limited to its natural resources but also includes knowledge, efficiency, determination, and the ability to reform, replace, and restart, ensuring the continuity of energy supplies in the toughest conditions.

The Energy Minister emphasized that “there can be no future for energy for all without energy security for all,” asserting that energy security must go hand in hand with the transformations occurring in the sector globally.

He confirmed the Kingdom’s continued investment in reliable energy sources, expansion in renewable energy, enhancement of electricity, storage, gas networks, and infrastructure, alongside developing new technologies, reducing emissions, building local industries and supply chains, and investing in national human resources.

He added that recent events are serious and require a serious response, yet the Kingdom is moving forward in achieving the targets of Vision 2030, developing the energy system and industrial infrastructure, and enhancing its international partnerships, noting that clarity of vision alone is not enough; solutions must be developed before the need arises.

Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman concluded by emphasizing that providing energy at reasonable prices requires sustainable investments and capable leadership to make decisions, stressing that Saudi Arabia will continue to play its global role wisely and prudently, with discipline in its operations, openness in its partnerships, and determination to succeed.
